APT EXTENDS RANGE OF CRASH-RATED AUTOMATIC BOLLARDS

A new mid-range automatic rising bollard that can withstand the impact of a 7.5 tonne vehicle striking it at 30mph has been launched by APT Security Systems (part of the APT Controls group), the high-end integrator for high-performance vehicle access systems.

An extension to its existing bollard range, the new APT30A was tested in accordance with relevant PAS68 criteria, the impact test specification for vehicle security barriers. It is the 20th occasion in less than 15 months that APT Security Systems has successfully tested its products through either TRL or MIRA, both independent testing bodies.

The APT30A has been designed for those applications where the risk of attack exists, but does not necessarily warrant using the company's larger APT50A bollard, as General Manager Chris Rowlands explains: “The APT30A meets the need for a mid-market bollard where other products in our range might not be appropriate or budgets are not available,” he says.

“Some sites have an identified risk, but perhaps the ability for a higher-speed attack has already been negated through other measures; other sites have less risk, but still need more protection than that offered by a ‘standard' bollard of the kind used for street furniture. In either case, the properties and performance characteristics of the APT30A are ideal.”

Designed in-house by APT engineers, the APT30A is fast acting and very easy to install, commission & maintain. “The bollard is particularly robust,” Chris continues, “manufactured from the highest quality materials and the it is available in a wide range of finish options.”

One of a series of new products to be launched by APT Security Systems over the past 15 months, other bollards in the range include the APT50A which has itself been tested in accordance with PAS68, using an unladen 18 tonne vehicle (weighing 7.5 tonnes) at 50mph. It also recently launched the UK's first ever crash-rated cycle stand with anti-terrorism/ram raid properties.
