Group history

Founded in 1961, and privately owned, APT Controls Group grew steadily from its base of automatic parking and access control products to incorporate a comprehensive portfolio of additional products and services. These included rising-arm barriers, rising kerbs, blockers, manual and automatic rising bollards, ticket dispensers, coin systems and traffic management systems.

In 1998 the Company established APT Skidata, a joint venture partnership with SKIDATA AG of Austria, allowing it to exclusively market and sell Europe’s leading pay-on-foot technology for parking and pedestrian access control technology for event and stadia venues. Now employing 75 people APT Skidata has over 500 installations throughout the UK.

In 2007 APT Technologies was formed to further complement the existing businesses with innovative solutions that add considerable value to the overall offering. The first two product offerings from the company are parking bay sensing and parking guidance signs and automatic number plate recognition systems.

The Group continues to grow and remains at the forefront of vehicle and pedestrian access control systems and technology.
